I come from a large family, on my mom's side I have 6 aunts and uncles including my mom, and on my dad's side I have 6 aunts and uncles as well. So if only each of my aunts and uncles had 2 kids which is pretty normal I would have 20 cousins, which is quite a few, I have a decent bit more than that because a few of my aunts and uncles have families that are larger than just 2 kids. Off the top of my head I have at least 30 cousins that I know pretty well, since my mom and dad's families are so large the ages of all the them are also spread out, as well as my cousins, so I have cousins that have kids probably at least half my age. This made family gatherings a blast no matter what. There was always lots of people to play with when I was a kid and lots of cousins to take care of all of the kids so that the parents could have a break. And now that I'm older there's lots of cousins for me to interact with at family gatherings so its not some boring occasion where is just me, a sibling, our parents, and their parents. It ends up being a gather of a sizeable amount even if its not the whole family and just 1 or 2 aunts visiting. Unfortunately I only have 1 sibling so I don't have a large immediate family, which is fine with me I never felt that I wanted more siblings, but at the same time I wouldn't mind being in a large immediate family.
